Sarah Nicole Kennedy (she/her/hers) is a queer Brooklyn-based graphic novelist and illustrator who graduated from the School of Visual Arts in 2022.
Her debut as an illustrator, The Greenies written by Emma Mills and published by Henry Holt was a Junior Library Guild gold selection in 2026. Currently, Sarah is illustrating the next two books in the series. As well as, another middle grade graphic novel series The Friend Group written by Emmy-nominated show creator Lasette Canady, acquired by Farrar, Straus and Giroux. The first of the four book series, Nope is set for publication in winter 2028. Finally, Sarah is ecstatic to be illustrating the graphic novel adaptation of a backlist classic, The Doll People by Ann M. Martin and Laura Godwin, adapted by Ivy Noelle Weir for publication by Christy Ottaviano Books in 2028.
Sarah excels at emotional storytelling and diverse character development — Finding joy and humor in the most unlikely places. Sarah’s work draws inspiration from a complicated childhood that motivated her to follow her dreams. Connection, nuance and determination are reflected not only in her work but in the ways she interacts with the world.
